Geologic Map of the Puu Waawaa Region, Hawaii

Geologic map of the Puu Waawaa area (from Wolfe and Morris 1996, sheet 1).
wc = scoria cone; w = lava flow.

Two stages in the geologic history of Puu Waawaa.
A. Massive trachyte lava flow overlying thin basalt flows at close of eruption.
B. Present stage showing cone eroded and lava flow weathered and nearly buried
by later basalt flows (Figure 6-14 from Stearns 1985:165).
