This source is located just north of the Buck Mountain source in the Warner Mountains. Secondary deposits containing nodules of Harris Flat obsidian have also been found in the Alturas vicinity to the west of the primary source. Obsidian artifacts from Harris Flat are only very occasionally documented in the archaeological record, most often from the Surprise Valley to the east and from the area to the west that lies between the Medicine Lake Highlands and the Warner Mountains.
